When I'm not blogging, I'm browsing. Here are sites and pages that I bookmarked on December 3rd:

  • Scientists complete 3rd trip in 3 months to study coral disease: Since September, scientists have been investigating a cyanobacterial/fungal disease that is rapidly killing coral at ‘Anini, Makua and Hanalei.

  • Hawaii Digital Government Summit 2012: This event is for and about state and local government. The purpose of the event is to foster discussion and dialogue on the use of information technology as a strategic tool for managers, executives and policy makers.

  • Hawaiians two times more likely to be diagnosed for HIV/AIDS: Researchers have found that HIV/AIDS is being diagnosed in Native Hawaiians more than twice as often as Caucasians, and that Native Hawaiians with HIV/AIDS are three times more likely to need hospitalization.

  • Fuel cell test lab renamed Hawaii Sustainable Energy Research Facility: The Hawaii Fuel Cell Test Facility, a 10-year-old research project, has been renamed the Hawaii Sustainable Energy Research Facility, or HiSERF.

  • Medical school researchers obtain $6 million to investigate heart disease: These two grants will bring in more than $6 million over the next five years to pay researchers and staff as well as help cover related university expenses.

  • Executive Office on Early Learning Announces Research-Based Standards: The Hawaii Early Learning and Development Standards (HELDS) will be used to support early childhood professionals in the development of their programs, and provide guidance on how to integrate strategies to educate young children.

  • Pearl Harbor-Hickam 'Makes History' with New App: The JBPHH Historic Sites app allows users to pull up information about various points of interest around the base, including vintage photographs, historical data and more.
