Friday, Sept. 2 @ 4pm: Big Island Tech Meetup

This is a place to meet other techies and help build the local community. How can we bring in remote jobs and create local opportunities? Meetings can cover tech training, demos, and community projects. Each event opens with announcements of jobs, projects, and other news, followed by an open discussion and opportunity sharing. Friday, Sept. 2 @ 6pm: Talk Shop at Sandbox Hawaii

Unwind and connect with entrepreneurs at all stages of business during this facilitated networking event. We’ve prepared a fun and energizing atmosphere in which to speed network which is a great exercise to practice how you talk about your business. At the end of the night, we’ll welcome five small business owners to share about their business on stage. Register here!

Tuesday, Sept. 6 @ 7pm: Nerd Nite Honolulu

A fun educational and booze-filled night at Anna's in McCully where we’ll have three amazing science talks themed around alcohol! We’ll also have a very special guest, the owner of our host bar, Anna O’Briens, as one of our speakers, in addition to an audience participation activity run by our very own Nerd Nite Co-boss, Lilly! Friday, Sept. 9 @ 12 noon: Kauai Tech Water Cooler Chat

This group is for developers and technology people of Kauai. We are a collection of students, mentors and advocates for technology advancement on the island of Kauai. Wednesday, Sept. 14 @ 10:30am: Business Cybersecurity

Hawaiian Telcom University is back in person for the first time in more than two years. In this half-day session at the Entrepreneurs Sandbox in Kakaako, learn about the latest threats facing Hawaii businesses and get in-depth insight and information on tools to defend your business’s assets. Thursday, Sept. 16 @ 6pm: Women In Tech

Hawaii Women in Tech is a safe, supportive, and judgement-free space for women who have—or are pursuing—careers in tech. If you work in tech, or are interested in pursuing a career in tech, you are welcome! Membership is about supporting each other, not about job titles. This month’s meeting will focus on product management, including what it is and how to become a product manager. Register here!

Sunday, Sept. 25 @ 9 am: Hawaii Geek Meet

Full disclosure: this is my event! Held every year for 12 years until the COVID-19 pandemic shut things down for two years. Well, this year, it's coming back! It's Part Maker Faire, part tech expo, part massive local-style beach pot luck picnic. It would mean the world to me if you came... and feel free to bring your company, club, or group! Details here!

Monday, Sept. 26 @ 5pm: Maui Techies Meetup

Whether you are just beginning or already an expert in your field, or if technology is your hobby, you will find someone who shares your interests. Friends and newcomers are always welcome. The 2022 Hawaii Digital Government Summit is returning to an in-person event after two years of virtual events. the no-cost, all-day Hawaii Digital Government Summit will be held at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. This summit is open to the public sector only. Register here!

Tuesday, Sept. 27 @ 6:00 pm: Honolulu Science Cafe

This month’s presenter is Professor Tom Browder from the UH Manoa Dept. of Physics on “Hunting New Physics at the Belle II Experiment.” He will introduce the core research program of the Belle II particle physics experiments at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider in Tsukuba, Japan. Hosted at “Terry’s Place” (formerly HASR Bistro), at 31 North Pauahi Street in Honolulu. Details here!

Thursday, Sept. 29 @ 3:30pm: Women in IT Leadership

Please join TEKsystems along with accomplished local women in IT for a riveting discussion and pau hana at Tidepools at Central Pacific Bank. We are featuring local inspirational leaders in technology, who will give their insight on how they reached their level of success, advice on navigating the workplace, and their input on how we can uplift future generations of women in technology.
