Apple's immensely popular iPhone will be the focus of tonight's Web Weavers Workshop, a regular series focused on web development organized by HMAUS and the Pacific New Media program at the University of Hawaii. iPhone expert Rich Warren (21 Century Systems Inc.) will talk about what the iPhone can do, why it's an important new platform, and how you can get the most of it. He'll also address creating iPhone content (be it iPhone-compatible web sites to native applications) and what businesses can do to take advantage of the device's capabilities and popularity.

The event is free and open to the public.

Brian Dote, User Interface Engineer for Apple's MobileMe (a.k.a. .Mac) service, said he hopes to attend. "I worked on the original RSS reader for the first iPhone which was hard wired into Mobile Safari," he said in a comment at HMAUS. "I’ve also built a few web apps for the iPhone and I’m looking forward to learning more!"

The workshop is being held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Yukiyoshi Room in Krauss Hall [Map]. For more information, call Eugene at (808) 735-0402.
